Clinical Trial – Phase II

Bethany had her last visit for the clinical trial on Monday — a 9 hour appointment. It wasn’t so bad and the time seemed to go fairly quickly considering how much had to be done. So, she finished up Phase I and then on Tuesday we went back to the hospital and she started Phase II. This time we know she is getting the real thing — no placebos. This part lasts for two years so we have a long road ahead of us.
Bethany has to get a sweat test done just about every visit. This one was no exception.
She really doesn’t seem to mind the visits much and we spend time reading while she waits for all the different tests to be done. We finished the book we were reading on Tuesday. Now we have to decide on a new book.

Then our daughter, Megan, came into town with her new baby, Jack. Bella was a pro at feeding him and she loved doing it. Oh, and Sarah made that green pillow for Jack — with some help.
Thanks for your prayers for our son and his family. He is getting his radiation daily and his chemo, too. He is pretty tired and feels rather yucky, but not too sick. We are thankful he is doing as well as he is. He is trying to stay active and do a little something every single day, and has been able to do that with the exception of about 3 or 4 days. I will try to post a picture of him and his family next time as several people have asked. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

  1. That picture of Bella and Jack is adorable! Her face is so sweet! Thanks for the update on Bethany and your son.

  2. So glad to hear that Bethany is doing well with her clinical trial for her CF regimen. I know I've mentioned that I had a cousin with CF who participated in every trial that came along, and did very well. Research has come so far in fighting and treating CF, but it has a long way to go.
That photo of Bella feeding the baby is just darling, she looks like a little Mama!
I continue to keep your son in my prayers. I hope his strength begins to return, and things keep going smoothly. I don't know if he would be okay with us having his first name for praying or not 🙂

  3. My son's name Joseph — we call him Joey. Thank you for praying for him.

  4. That will be easy to remember. I only have one now grown son, named Joseph. We call him Joey 🙂 Will keep praying for complete healing!
