Today our special thing was to bring our Christmas books down out of the attic. We brought down two buckets full and went through them and put most of them in baskets or wooden boxes. This was a great day as the kids love to go through the books. They have been asking to bring some down for about a week or maybe two. We still have tons left in the attic that we will bring down another day but there were plenty to go through and read today – probably about 75 -80. We have so many books because for years and years I would buy five or six new books every Christmas to add to an already large collection.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 6

Our special thing today was to make fudge – the recipe that has been in our family for probably 75 years or more. We call it our secret recipe because we have never seen any similar. It is really good but you have to have the touch to make it. Today Andrew made it and everyone watched to see if it turned out. It didn’t. Way too soft. So, he tried again and it worked. That was pretty good because sometimes it takes five or six times to get it right — especially good for him because it was his first time making it.
This is the bad batch and you can kind of tell it doesn’t look right. Way too soft to even cut, but it didn’t stop the kids from eating it with a spoon. They said it tasted good anyway.
The good batch. It was great.
I am going to go ahead and post more of my pictures from yesterday and the kids making gingerbread houses. So, this will be a little picture heavy.
