December

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We had a houseful and I very much enjoyed the day with all my kids and grandkids. I think we had 45 people here, but it really didn’t feel that way to me. I’m sure some of my adult kids will not agree with me, though.

I want to try to do our “Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas” again this year so I thought I would mention that it will start tomorrow as it will be December 1st. Since I have done so little blogging since May and we have had so many blog issues we will see how it goes. Hoping tonight’s post goes out to everyone.

I took no pictures on Thanksgiving and even I can’t believe it. So, no pictures, but I am posting one picture of Tess and Aria at the chicken house looking at our chickens. We were going to get chickens this spring or early summer and ended up not doing it. Then this fall I decided that the girls had wanted them for so long that I would go ahead and get them even though it was already October. They love them. We have 4 and hope to get a couple more in the spring.

Quiet-3

This will be our third attempt to send out this post as we realized we had an issue with our email delivery system. We are hoping this has now been corrected. If you have already received this we apologize. We are just trying to get our blog working and sending out all of our emails again.

It's been a long time since I have sat down to my blog to write. I kept meaning to, but just never seemed to be ready. I think it was May the last time I posted and we had plans for a quiet relaxing summer with maybe one small trip or two. Then the end of May we had a devastating thing happen. Our twenty-three year old daughter, Jordan, passed away unexpectedly. She was staying at my mother's house some - as a little company and helping her with meals and things. On a Thursday morning I ordered my mom some groceries and called Jordan to let her know they would be there soon. Jordan didn't answer so I waited about 10 minutes and called her back, but still no answer. It was odd she didn't answer so I drove over there to check on things and when I got there all was quiet and my mom was in bed. I looked through the house and finally saw Jordan in the bathroom floor. I knew from the moment I saw her she was dead. I know people are going to wonder what happened so I will try to explain a little. There was a lot of blood. It looked pretty bad. It was determined that Jordan had a gastrointestinal hemorrhage caused by complications from a congenital tracheoesophageal fistula. This was a shock to all of us and so unexpected. There is just no way to explain how it feels to walk in on your child in this state.

We have had a lot of changes since May. We decided we needed to move my mom in with us so we had to make a few changes here to get ready. We moved Bella upstairs and my mom took Bella's room for now. It has taken her a little while to adjust, but most of the family thinks it has been really good for her to have more company and people around. We knew she was going to need to move in here sometime soon and this summer with all that happened seemed the best time.

I have meant to get back to blogging for quite awhile, but it just never seemed to be the right time. I think I am finally ready. I am hoping this post will actually get sent out as when we went back to the blog after months of not even looking at it, there were several issues that Bill and our web hosting company had to try to fix. I guess it sat too long. So, I guess this is a test post.

I do want to thank all the people that wrote me and commented - asking if we were ok and saying they missed our posts. It was nice to hear from our followers.
