The weekend was beautiful. I love the fall weather – a little cool in the morning, but getting up to the 70’s later in the day. We had a rather relaxed weekend and didn’t really do much, but it was very nice. On Saturday I went to Reagan’s soccer game at 8:00 am which was a little early for me, but I was glad I made it. I really do enjoy watching her play and getting a few pictures as she runs around.
Piper spent a lot of time hunting colorful leaves to press and found quite a few. Then she and Tess wanted to put cloves into oranges to make the kitchen smell delicious and they did that. Every single time I walk into the kitchen I smell this wonderful smell. We have done this several years and it really does make the kitchen smell nice – if you do enough of them. I don’t think one or two would work very well. You can also use apples, but they don’t seem to last as long or look as nice so we stuck mostly with oranges. I think we may make some potpourri on the stove this week with some oranges, cinnamon, cloves, and a bunch of other spices. Actually, we will probably use the crock pot so it can slowly simmer all day long. I love the way it makes the kitchen smell. This is about my favorite time of year – except Christmas.
This is such a beautiful time of year – though we don’t really have many beautiful leaves yet. But, it is such a great time to get outside and walk. Nature walks with our journals are loved by all the kids and so much nicer if the weather is not hot and muggy. We will be doing more of these walks now that the weather is a little cooler.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
