I was checking Bethany’s machine today and realized that she had done 590 hours of vest time in a little over 5 months. That’s a lot of time for a kid to sit and get chest PT, but a very necessary thing for her. She usually does this with a very good attitude. I do know it is boring for her and she does always dread it and she tries to put it off as long as possible. I try to find things to occupy her as she does her vest and nebulizer, but sometimes it is just boring no matter what I try to do. Good thing is that she is doing very well now, and she is finally not coughing and is not growing anything she doesn’t usually grow. Things are good.
It was a nice day and the kids played outside most of the day. Bethany spent a long time riding the new bike she got for Christmas from her sister. Best gift Katie could have given her as Bethany loves to ride and the exercise is so good for her. Evelyn and Liam came over to play and all the kids had a nice day outside, and I so hope we have some more warm days.
Your children always exude such happiness. It's great to see them outside playing, when so many kids today are glued to phones and video games. It's nice to see Andrew, it's been months since he has been in a photo. Part of being a teenage boy, I'm sure! We went through the same thing with my cousin and her vest. Even though she occasionally complained, when you think of the hours they spend in it, the complaints are minimal.
Yes. So much time every single day for therapy, but so very necessary. I just need to be more creative and think of more things she can do. I want to help her understand how important this is so she will continue to take care of herself when she is older and makes her own decisions about her health.
