Goodbye June

June was a very nice month for us. We made ice cream on the porch, grilled out, made pies, pretzels, banana bread and lots of sourdough bread. The grandkids were over and played soccer, fed and played around with the chickens, played dollhouse and just sat around and visited. I enjoyed every minute of it. We have had birthday parties and lots of swimming, ice skating and Bethany has renewed her interest in drawing. It has been a nice month.

Our garden is growing and our chickens giving us lots of eggs. We even have enough to share with family and neighbors. Tess makes bread about three or four times a week and has gotten really good at it. We have it for breakfast many mornings with cheese or peanut butter. She loves cooking and gardening and she is great at taking care of the chickens. As I see her in our garden, I always remember the very first picture I saw of her and she was in China standing in a garden with a hoe in her hand. The minute I saw that picture I knew I wanted to adopt her – and Bill felt the same.

As we go into July I am hoping for more days of summer joy with my kids and grandkids. We have had a full house this summer with family and friends and it takes me back to when I was a child at my grandmothers – always lots of family and visiting with neighbors. I even had coffee brought to me at 7:30 this morning by my daughter, Meredith. We had ice coffee on the front porch and talked and it was wonderful. The only thing better than sitting on my front porch in the morning with coffee is one of my adult kids coming by to sit and drink coffee with me. It makes a great start to my day.

I’m just going to put a bunch of pictures up of different days this June and no rhyme or reason to them. Just wanted to get them posted and then move into July. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.
