The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 19

Today started off really nice with mild temperatures so I thought it would be a good day to take the girls skating for our “special thing.” Everyone definitely agreed on that and so we all went skating – most of my girls and Evelyn and Liam and a friend of mine went to keep me company while I just stood and watched. What seemed to be a great day to skate ended up being very cold and since we were just sitting and watching it was much colder to us than the skaters. After an hour or so John and Juliana joined us and got all of us hot chocolate, pizza and cake. It was a very nice evening and we all enjoyed it -except for the cold. Bethany and Tess were really happy as they haven’t skated in about a month now and were really wanting to go. Evelyn said she’s going to ask her dad for skating lessons since Liam gets to play baseball.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 18

Today our “special thing” was candy – Christmas candy. I went to the store and bought several different kinds of Christmas candy – chocolate Santas, chocolate elves, suckers and plastic candy canes with candy in them. I put them all out on the table and the girls chose which one they wanted tonight as a snack. They all got the one they wanted and they thought it was a pretty good “special thing.” It was small, but they all enjoyed.

I did a little wrapping today and I actually got the tree in the library done. I really like having a tree in there. It is one of my favorites for some reason and so I really wanted to get it done as soon as possible. Now I feel like we are done decorating. I even put some of our gifts under it so we could be a little more organized.
