A Graduation

This past Friday our daughter, Megan, graduated from her residency program. She finished her residency of Internal Medicine at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. It has been a long twelve years for her — college, medical school, internship and residency. We are so very proud of all the work she has done. She even worked through her nine months of pregnancy while sick every day — and still went to work.
Sarah, Bethany and I went to Georgia for her graduation and it was really nice. I was so glad we decided to make the trip. Sarah loves Megan so much and they have a special bond. Megan spent time helping me teach Sarah when she was little and it formed a bond that is still there. When Sarah hears Megan’s name she lights up. So, it was a very special time for Sarah, too.

We also got to see, Jack — our grandson. I think he is one cute kid.

After her graduation I decided to take Sarah and Bethany to Tybee Island since we were only three hours away. I thought it would be nice for the girls to have a day at the ocean. It ended up that we didn’t get there until almost nine that night and had to check out at eleven the next morning so we really had very little time on the beach. But, they loved it. Sarah was so excited. It surprised me, as she doesn’t usually get so excited about things. She absolutely loved the beach and didn’t want to leave. Both girls really had a good time and I was glad we made the short trip.

Family

This past Saturday John stopped by with his kids – Liam and Evelyn. Then Joey came by with Joshua while Madelyn was napping and Meredith came with Reagan and Asher. All the kids played while we had some time to talk. It was a very nice day.

Joey has had a hard week and could use prayer as he is back on his chemo this week.  He has been so tired for the past week that it is hard for him to do much. But, he made it for a nice visit on Saturday. He was actually ready to leave so he could go home to rest,  but Joshua was having such a good time he said he wanted to stay a little longer for him. Please remember him in your prayers. It seems that it gets harder and harder for him to do the chemo.

I have meant to blog our books for the month of May and just haven’t seemed to get around to it. Maybe in the next day or so I will — and our mark-my-time bookmark.

Joshua decided he wanted to help Andrew while he was here. Andrew had planned a day of baking on Saturday and spent most of the day in the kitchen. Kids came and went helping him, but Joshua decided baking was lots of fun and helped for most of the time he was here. I love to watch kids in the kitchen – and take pictures of them.

Everybody was either running around the yard playing or in the kitchen making cookies and brownies except I looked out and there was Asher playing in the dirt all by himself and definitely having fun.
