The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 15

Today our special thing was a little different. I decided we would have a little discussion about memories and favorite Christmas things. It went ok – not as much conversation as I had hoped, but it was fun. I asked the girls what their favorite Christmas tradition was and got several different answers – Bethany said hers was making fudge and skating at the fashion park, Tess said her favorite tradition was doing the Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas. Caroline said she liked making the Christmas tree for the animals and Aria said making fudge for our neighbors.

The next question was what was their favorite Christmas memory. Bethany said she remembered one Christmas we were decorating our tree and the next door neighbor’s girls (Lily and Emma) came over and ate candy canes with her while my son, Michael, read to them. Tess said she remembered how excited she was lying in bed really early Christmas morning and waiting to get up. Piper said one of her favorite memories is listening to the Christmas story and The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve.

I asked what their favorite Christmas song was – Bethany – O Holy Night. Sarah – Oh Come All Ye Faithful. Claire – Away in a Manger. Aria – Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Caroline – Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.

I also asked what their earliest Christmas memory was. Bethany was the only one that seemed to be able to answer this one and I’m not sure why. Bethany said she remembers she was really young and she was sitting at the window on Christmas Eve watching it snow. Then Katie came and got her and carried her to the mantle to hang her stocking. That was it – a short little memory from a young age.

I asked what their favorite Christmas book was and they didn’t have any trouble with this one. Bethany said The Special Guest and Sarah said The Night Before Christmas. Tess chose The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas and Piper chose The Christmas Doll. Most of these books we have read over and over and they really don’t tire of them no matter how old they are.

After we did our discussion on favorite things and stuff, Bethany and I went to a concert of Michael’s. It was all Christmas music and very nice. We didn’t get back till fairly late and I didn’t take one picture today so I will just post a picture of Bethany helping Caroline skate the other night. Bethany and Tess were so great helping both Sarah and Caroline on the ice rink.
