Looking Forward to Fall

It’s that time of year again – almost fall and then all the wonderful holidays. It has been really nice this year as the weather here has been beautiful – slightly cool in the mornings and then warm during the day, but not hot. I can’t wait for my yard to be covered in yellow and orange leaves and watch the kids rake the leaves up to jump into them. So many things I love about fall. Today Liam said it was almost time to get our pinecones, peanut butter, birdseed and berries and make our pinecones for the birds and the squirrels that manage to get to them as fast as the birds – if not faster.

I sat on the porch today with a few of my girls and Evelyn and Liam and we talked about all the fall things we want to do – Evelyn and I can’t wait to make delicious smelling potpourri in our crockpot. It makes the house smell so lovely. This is such a wonderful time of anticipation for me.

I had a visit from Archie – my youngest grandchild this week and he had on his new fall outfit that his mom had just bought him. He looked so cute and he even had on his first pair of shoes – little moccasins. Archie really likes the chickens and is surprisingly undaunted by them as they run up to him to see if he has food for them. He didn’t want to leave them when it was time to go home.

Next time I’m here, hopefully, we will be having lots of fall fun and maybe even making some simmering potpourri.

Fairy Houses

We have fairy houses again. I have missed them. Aria decided she wanted to make some and she remembers how many Bethany used to make. So, we got some stuff and she and Madelyn spent the afternoon working on them. They seemed to really enjoy themselves and Aria could not wait for me to see them. She kept asking when was I going to take some pictures of them. I guess my kids are getting to be like me. They expect a picture to be taken.

They have a few solar lights out around them and in the evening they light up. They do look rather pretty.
