The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 22

Today our special thing was to take cookies to our neighbors. Tess made them and then several of the girls took them to the neighbors. A small thing, but something, and the girls do like doing it. After church today we all were kind of tired and really didn’t do much except wrap a couple of things and sit around listening to music and talking. So, when Tess suggested she make cookies we knew that would be our special thing – and the cookies were very good.

I enjoy the lazy days where we don’t do much, but stay home and read or talk or maybe bake a little. Joey came by for a little while and a visit is always enjoyable to all of us – even more so a few days before Christmas.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 21

Since today was the first day of winter, we decided to make a Christmas tree for the animals. The girls found pinecones and tied string to them and then they covered them in peanut butter. After the pinecones had lots of peanut butter on them they dipped them in birdseed. They made a bunch of them and then went outside and hung them on a small tree. Within five minutes we had a bird over at the tree checking it out. We have done this before and the birds and squirrels all love it. It was cold outside today so they got the pinecones hung in just a few minutes and were back inside where we had a nice fire going. Then Tess and Bethany both made fudge.
