The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 8

Today it snowed again for most of the day. The girls went out sledding and stayed out quite a long time. I prefer to stay inside in the warm house with a fire. When they came in they had hot chocolate and, apparently, it was extra good compared to what we usually have. It was a new kind that John brought us from Trader Joe’s. We didn’t do our “special thing” until late in the day today. Our “special thing” was to put the snowflakes on the windows. We do this almost every single year, but we do really like the snowflakes. They look rather pretty on the windows. We thought they looked extra nice today with the snow outside.

It was a very relaxing day for me and we did some reading after they came in from sledding. We also did a lot of nothing and sat around, made some fudge and just talked. It was a pleasant day.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – 7

Today our “special thing” was to bring out our Christmas books to put in buckets and baskets. We got a lot of them out, but still have more to get into containers tomorrow. As soon as I start bringing them into the family room everyone wants to start reading them. Even though we have a lot of books, I still usually buy at least 3 or 4 new ones every year. We all love to get them out each year and read them over and over. It never gets old.

We practiced for our Christmas program after church today and had the cutest visitor – Archie came and was wearing an angel costume. He looked adorable and loved being on the stage. Anna wanted to see if he would be able to handle being an angel. I think he can – he was all over the place, but he was quiet and didn’t really bother anyone. We will see next week how he does – we at least know he will be cute and probably be the star of the show.

I also wanted to put up a picture of Archie at the practice we had today.
