The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 22

Today our “special thing” was to go to a living nativity at the zoo. My daughter asked if we would like to go with her and her kids and it sounded fun. It was very cold and very crowded, but we did enjoy it. There were lots of animals and even camels. I tried to get a few pictures, but it was very difficult with so many people there. We are nearing the end of our “Twenty-Four Days” and we have enjoyed doing this again this year and finding a few new things to do. Time has seemed to fly by and it’s hard to believe it is almost Christmas. We are just about ready, but I would love a few extra days to just enjoy.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 21

Today we did several things. We had planned for our “special thing” to be going to the school up the street and looking at all the Christmas lights they decorated with – and we did do that. The girls also made bracelets with the jewelry making kit they got today at church from their Sunday school teacher. They barely made it in the door and they were opening the boxes and making bracelets. They did make some pretty ones.

After lunch, bracelet making and a trip out to get a sleigh to put some of our Christmas books in it was getting a little dusky and colder. We decided to go look at the lights even though it wasn’t dark yet, as we didn’t want to be out as it got colder. It was nice. There were enough lights to be enjoyable and a few new things out this year. After we walked as much as we wanted, we came home and they all used their McDonald’s gift cards they got from their Sunday school teacher today and had that for dinner. It was a nice evening and I didn’t have to make any dinner.

We also had such beautiful music today at church – I love Christmas carols. Bethany sang a solo and did a wonderful job – it was O Holy Night. I will be sad when we no longer sing the Christmas carols in church.
