We had a nice week and the kids got to do a few things they have been wanting to do. Bethany has wanted to go to Williamsburg and skate on the outdoor rink for a few weeks. I didn’t think we would make it, but then last week at the last minute I decided we should go. I knew the rink was closing at the end of the week and then they could not skate until next December. We spent most of the day there and after the girls skated we had lunch and walked around a little. We really need to go back this spring when we have more time to explore. But, it was a nice day and I’m glad I decided to take them. We had a friend with us and Joshua and Madelyn also went – Joey and Shannon’s kids.

Then we decided we needed a few more chickens. We have really enjoyed getting the few eggs we do. I know it sounds silly, but every morning we are excited to see how many eggs we get – usually three or four. We have talked a lot about more hens because, frankly, we have been entertained by and enjoyed our hens so much. So, Bethany, Tess, Aria, Joshua, Madelyn and I went to a small farm and bought four pullets. They are Azures. We really like them and are excited to know that in a month or two we will have even more eggs. We enjoyed looking around the farm at the other animals and the woman that sold them to us gave us so much information that really helped.
We have the pullets home and in the coop now and they will stay there for a week or two before we let them out to roam. There has been a little fighting between all the hens, but nothing too bad. I could really get into this chicken thing – and I know the kids have.

We are ready for spring and some warm weather. We are anxious to start our garden and do a little work in the yard. Tess is starting softball this week so we will also be spending a lot of time at practices and games which we will all enjoy.
