The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 12

Today was a rather busy day as Aria had an appointment with urology / nephrology and an ultrasound. Since that took awhile and I knew it would be a busy day I knew our “special thing” would likely be small. It was. After her appointment we got several bags of spiced cookies and iced gingerbread and had that as a treat. The girls that stayed home did get to watch a movie while we were gone so there was that, too. They watched Elf. Aria’s appointment went well and, afterwards we had our small treat so it was a good day. This evening we sat in the family room with the tree and cottages and mantle lit and talked about Christmas this year and past years and what we loved best. Bethany said that this year there is nothing she really wants, though she is enjoying all the decorations, wrapping and shopping for special gifts for family. I think we may actually have a nice slow week before Christmas morning – at least I hope so.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 11

Today our “special thing” was to practice for our Christmas program that we are having on Sunday. We did our dress rehersal tonight and it went as well as it probably could. We have so few kids in it that it is hard to make it sound very good. But, we still do it and even though it is small and not so great I think we all like it anyway. Our congregation always tell us they love it ,and though it is not much I think they actually do. This year all the kids in it are our family – all our girls and Evelyn, Liam and Reagan. I think Archie – our youngest grandchild – is going to come and be a tiny angel. He will probably steal the show as he is so cute. He was baby Jesus last year and now an angel.
