The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 4

Today our “special thing” wasn’t exactly one thing. We decided we would do all we could today to get our house ready for Christmas. That way we would have a lot more time to read and just spend time together in this season that ends so quickly. So, we went through the attic and brought down all the ornaments for the family room tree, Bethany decorated the plant in the family room – well, actually a little artifical tree we have up all year. We finished the tree in my room, made fudge for Bethany and Tess’s recital this evening and put candles in all the downstairs windows. Then we got the hall tree out of the shed and fluffed the branches out so we could decorate it tomorrow, and then Aria and Tess went out and got me a few branches off our holly tree so I could use them on our mantle. We even got a few gifts wrapped. It was a busy day, but I think we all enjoyed it and it was nice to get a lot done.

Then we went to the recital which was very nice. We came home and watched a movie – The Christmas Box. It was a nice ending to our day.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas – Day 3

Today our special thing was to have homemade chili and watch a short Christmas show – and have the Christmas candy I bought for a dessert . It was a good choice, as we were very busy today. Tess had recital practice and Bethany had choir practice. I also picked up Megan’s three kids from school and had them in the afternoon and evening. So, chili, movie and snack sounded good and easy for today.

Penny, Oliver, Jack, Evelyn, Liam and Aria also made gingerbread houses. It seemed like an easy and good activity for the kids this afternoon. It was a very busy, but nice day.
